What Happens Step by Step on Exam Day 🗓️

Arrive at the CBT Centre
Arrive at least 30 minutes before your session time. Bring your exam slip and valid ID.
You will be accredited — your fingerprint and face are verified against your JAMB registration.
No accreditation means no entry.

Log In to the Exam System
You are assigned a computer. You log in with your JAMB registration number.
A tutorial screen appears first — read it, it shows you how to navigate questions.
You are given a few minutes to go through this before the exam starts.

The Exam Begins — 2 Hours on the Clock
The timer starts counting down from 2:00:00. Questions appear one at a time.
Each question has 4 options (A, B, C, D). Click your answer — it highlights immediately.
You can change your answer at any time before submitting.

Navigate Freely Between Questions
The question panel on the right side of the screen shows all 180 questions as numbered boxes.
Answered questions turn green (or highlighted). Click any number to jump to that question.
Skip difficult ones and come back — do not waste time getting stuck on one question.

Submit and See Your Score Instantly
When time runs out, the system submits automatically. Or you can click "Submit" yourself
when you are done. Your score appears on screen immediately.
Write it down or take a photo with your phone outside the hall — you will need it.

Do Not Rush to Answer Every Question in Order
Skip questions you are unsure about and come back. Spending 3 minutes on one hard question
when you could have answered 5 easier ones is a common CBT mistake. Move fast, flag the hard ones, return later.

Always Answer Every Question — Even if Guessing
JAMB does not deduct marks for wrong answers. So never leave a question blank.
If you genuinely do not know, eliminate obviously wrong options and pick from what is left.
A guess gives you a 25% chance. A blank gives you 0%.

Practice on a Computer Before Exam Day
Reading from a screen and clicking answers feels different from paper.
If you have never practiced this way, the interface alone can slow you down on exam day.

Do Not Leave the Hall Early
Even if you finish early, use the remaining time to go back and review every question you were unsure about.
Many students change a wrong answer to a right one during review. Use every second.

across 4 subjects in 2 hours. You click your answer option on screen, navigate freely between

Yes. JAMB CBT allows you to navigate freely between questions. There is a question panel
showing all 180 questions — answered ones appear highlighted. Click any number to jump
directly to that question at any time during the exam.
CBT centres are required to have backup power. If your computer shuts down unexpectedly,
your answers are saved automatically. The invigilator will help you log back in and continue.
Your previous answers are not lost.
You answer 4 subjects: Use of English (compulsory, 60 questions) plus 3 subjects based
on your course (40 questions each), giving a total of 180 questions in 2 hours.
Bring your JAMB exam slip (printed), a valid ID, and arrive at least 30 minutes before your session.
Do not bring phones, smartwatches, or any electronic device — they will be seized at the gate.
