JAMB Agriculture has five sections: Section A (General Agriculture), Section B (Agronomy), Section C (Animal Production), Section D (Agricultural Economics and Extension), and Section E (Agricultural Technology). Each section carries significant weight in the 40-question exam.
Based on past question patterns, Agronomy (soil, crops, pests and diseases) and Animal Production consistently yield the most questions. Within Agronomy, Soil Fertility, Crop Husbandry and Crop Pests are especially high-yield. Agricultural Economics and Genetics also appear regularly.
JAMB sets 40 questions in Agriculture. Each question is multiple choice with 4 options. You share 2 hours across all 4 JAMB subjects, so target roughly 1.5 minutes per Agriculture question.
Agriculture is required for courses like Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Animal Science, Soil Science, Forestry, Fisheries, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Engineering, and Veterinary Medicine in most Nigerian universities.
JAMB tests knowledge of West African ecological zones including the tropical rainforest, guinea savanna (southern and northern), Sudan savanna, Sahel savanna, and mangrove/freshwater swamp zones. You must know the dominant crops and livestock of each zone.
The JAMB Agriculture syllabus has remained largely stable for several years. The five sections on this page reflect the current official JAMB document. Practice past questions from 2023 onwards alongside this syllabus for the best preparation.
