Common Questions 🤔
Your JAMB subject combination essentially determines your teaching specialization. If you register English, Literature, Government and CRK, you will be trained to teach those subjects at secondary school level. If you register Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, you will be trained to teach those science subjects.
Almost — Use of English is always compulsory. For the other 3 subjects, you have broad flexibility. But strategically, choose subjects you actually want to teach or that align with a recognized secondary school curriculum. Do not register random subjects just because they are easy.
You can combine complementary subjects in your 4 JAMB subjects. For example, Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry (combined science), or English + Literature + Government (combined humanities). This gives you flexibility to teach multiple related subjects or an integrated subject after graduation.
Education is one of the least competitive courses in Nigeria. Most federal universities have cut-off marks between 180–220. State and private universities are even lower. If your goal is to become a teacher, Education is an accessible path. However, you still need to meet the subject combination requirements and have the relevant O'Level credits.
